I have owned and used many desks in my life, but this is my very first corner desk! I wanted two distinct spaces; one for computer use and the other for craft use, and this desk organizes my space perfectly! I find having a nicely curated desk setup can help make the creative process easier and less messy or stressful. This is a method that works well for me (but maybe not for everyone)! I value my space and try to make it my own, here are some key components of my desk setup...
signifies level of importancePlastic organizers come in all shapes and sizes, but I find this clear drawer organizer fits my needs perfectly. The dimensions of the drawers leave perfect space for the roll sizes of my washi tapes. With one of these organizers, I can fit about 100 rolls of different sizes. I like to organize my tapes by color; this makes it easier to find the perfect one when I’m journaling.
This ones a no brainer! I try and take my journal with me wherever I go, I like to think this encourages me to organize my thoughts better. An open journal provides endless possibilities, most items on my desk would be useless if not for this guy!
Life before a cutting mat was grim and dangerous. Life after a cutting mat has been a breeze. Many creatives may not thing they would benefit from a cutting mat, but I think more people should invest in this slim bit of plastic. I appreciate the extra barrier it provides, ensuring my wooden desk is safe from scratches and glue. I always begin a journal session by pulling out my wonderful messy mat.
My desk has a bit of a shelf feature built in. It wonderfully provides more surface area for all my items, but I wanted to utilize the area under the self as well. After checking dimensions, I found a cute set of plastic mini-crates. These crates work perfectly as a storage space for the items that are harder to store (like stamps and miscellaneous trinkets)
Around 2020 I custom built my very first personal computer! I mostly use this computer to game, code, and for general browsing. I get a lot of inspiration from the internet, and while I journal, I use my pc to play music or watch videos. I think my desk would look pretty dull without my pc, its my most reliable (and most expensive) tool in my desk setup.
I’m very lucky to have this chair and still be alive. It was sent to me as a gift; shipped in the mail to be assembled. A lovely gesture, only problem was at the time I was living in a college dorm with no elevator and the package weighed 50 pounds. Because I avoided asking anyone for help, I was nearly trampled by this chair as I did my best to maneuver it up four flights of stairs. But after that the assembly was pretty simple and I love the cushion and color this chair provides! Yes worth the injury, but maybe I should’ve just asked for help in the end!
